Mini Essay

After the numerous amounts of deaths caused in Hawaiis natural landmarks, the state should be blamed otherwise because of the lack of warnings and misleading information given to tourists. Here on O'ahu, back in 2002, Daniel Dick from California was walking the coastline of Sandy Beach to Halona Blowhole and was killed moments later due to being lifted 3-5 feet up in the air then hitting the ground headfirst. Although there were warning signs in the blowhole parking lot, there weren't any warning signs along the Sandy Beach shoreline.

In Opaekaa Falls on Kauai, two women, Paula Ramirez (29) and Elizabeth Brem (35) were both walking on a side trail near the falls then both fell off the cliff due to heavy amounts of vegetation blocking the edge of the trail. When the women neared a split trail and saw a "Keep Out" sign on the left, they decided to go right which had no signs/warnings at all then fell off the cliff and later died. On Maui, Kevin Oakley, a 41 year old man from California drowned at the Seven Sacred Pools due to trying to save his son from being swept away. HIs family was then rewarded a $2 million settlement from the government.

Here in Hawaii, we have many prestigious, beautiful natural landmarks - many with high dangers ahead that most tourists are aware of. Due to the lack of warnings and signs on many of Hawaii's natural landmarks, many have lost their lives.
